SNOW!! (17)
Surprisingly this was one of the only days this month we didn't have any actual snow. The kids were treated to all things snow including marshmallow snowmen, a cotton ball snowball fight, and a snowman toilet paper building contest. **Please continue to click on the photo to begin the slideshow** -
Santa Visits Again (17)
Q. Byrum Hurst once again filled in as our own Santa Clause. While waiting to have their photo made with Santa, the children made their own frame ornament. After "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and cookie decorating, the kids took home a 4x6 photo with Santa and their framed ornament as holiday presents for their family. **To begin photo slide show continue to click on first picture until it begins** -
Santa's Workshop (15)
This year we are extremely fortunate that Harmony’s dad, Q. Byrum Hurst, filled in as our own Santa Clause. The kids created their own Christmas frame ornament, had a wintery snack, and had “wish list” time with Santa. Each child received a holiday goodie bag and a photo for their handmade Christmas frame ornament. **To begin photo slide show continue to click on first picture until it begins** -
Winter Wonderland (7)
Junior Auxiliary members sponsor a monthly event called Fun Friday for students who attend elementary school via the alternative learning environment. This project is designed to help motivate the students to set goals and improve behavior throughout the month in order to participate in Fun Friday. The day consists of activities, crafts, and snacks which are centered around a book or educational theme. JA members read to the children at least once a month throughout the school year to promote the importance of reading. We also donate Campbell Soup labels and Box Tops for Education to enable the teachers to buy educational supplies. **To begin photo slide show continue to click on first picture until it begins** -
Smokey Visits Summit (24)
Arkansas Forestry Commission brought along a special friend as well as a tree for Summit Primary students. Smokey Bear spoke about the ways to prevent forest fires as well as providing each student with a goodie bag. The rangers then helped plant a Dogwood Tree which was grown from seeds of a Dogwood planted at Central High during the repeal of segregation. The students helped plant this special "Promise Tree". **To begin photo slide show continue to click on first picture until it begins** -
May Carnival (8)
Due to an unfortunate smattering of rain showers, we changed our traditional May Track and Field Day to a carnival theme. The kids were treated to pizza and a soda which is a big treat seeing as though we normally provide healthy snacks. Dessert consisted of a chocolate fountain complete with yummy dippers provided by the “Chocolate Lady”. After their snack, we headed on to the carnival games. There was a bean bag toss, a bushel basket game, and a football toss. The kids won prizes in all shapes and sizes. The afternoon was a big success providing exciting activities enjoyed by teachers, students and volunteers. **To begin photo slide show continue to click on first picture until it begins**
